Course Instructors
Albert Higgins-Chen, PhD.Â
Albert Higgins-Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University where he is a principal investigator. During his MD/PhD training at the University of Michigan, he worked with C. elegans identifying genes regulating aging and longevity. He is a clinically trained psychiatrist and has applied aging biomarkers to investigate how mental health and treatment affect aging. He now develops new methods for measuring the biological aging process and the effects of aging interventions.

Raghav Sehgal
Raghav’s research focuses on understanding Human Aging. Through his research Raghav is trying to answer critical questions such as “What are the biological systems and processes driving human aging?”, “How can we measure biological aging?”, “Can we reverse the processes driving Aging?” and “How does Aging give rise to diseases like Cancer, Diabetes, Alzheimer’s and more?”. To answer these questions, Raghav is building deep learning tools and techniques using multi-omic (Epigenetics, Transcriptomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics et al) and multi-modal data (Whole body and Organular Biomarkers, Tissue Omics and Single-Cell Omics).

Jeff Bland, PhD
Jeff Bland, PhD is the founder of Big Bold Health, a company on a mission to transform the way people think about one of nature’s greatest innovations — the immune system. Through Big Bold Health, Jeff is advocating for the power of Immuno-Rejuvenation to enhance immunity at a global level, often through the rediscovery of ancient food crops and superfoods. To get there, Jeff is building a network of small farms and suppliers throughout the US that take a clear stance on regenerative agriculture, environmental stewardship, and planetary health. Jeff’s career in health spans more than 40 years. A nutritional biochemist by training, he began in academia as a university professor. Jeff then spent three decades in the natural products industry, working alongside other pioneers.
A lifelong educator, Jeff has traveled the world many times over in his role as the “father of functional medicine.” In 1991, he and his wife, Susan, founded The Institute for Functional Medicine. In 2012, Jeff founded another educational nonprofit called the Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Institute.
Jeff is the author of The Disease Delusion: Conquering the Causes of Chronic Illness for a Healthier, Longer, and Happier Life, as well as countless additional books and research papers.

Mike Stone, MD
Dr. Mike Stone holds a degree in Biology from Brown University and attended New York University School of Medicine before completing his residency/fellowship in Emergency Medicine at Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland, California. Dr. Stone has held academic appointments at Harvard Medical School and UCSF, and has received several national awards for education, innovation, and leadership in emergency medicine.

Terrie Moffitt, BA, MA, PhD.
Terrie E. Moffitt, Ph.D., is the Nannerl O. Keohane University Professor of Psychology at Duke University and Professor of Social Development at King’s College London. A renowned expert in longitudinal methods, developmental theory, and behavioral science, she focuses on the effects of lifelong mental and behavioral disorders on aging. Dr. Moffitt co-leads the Dunedin Longitudinal Study and co-founded the Environmental Risk Longitudinal Twin Study. She is a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialization in neuropsychological assessment and collaborates across various scientific disciplines. Dr. Moffitt is a fellow of several prestigious academies and has received numerous awards for her groundbreaking research. She earned her psychology degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Southern California, with postdoctoral training at UCLA. In her spare time, she manages a poison-ivy farm in North Carolina.

Joshua Routh, MD
Joshua Routh, MD is an Assistant Professor of Pathology at Midwestern University and the Laboratory Director at Precision Epigenomics, where he oversees the development of innovative molecular diagnostics for cancer detection. Dr. Routh earned his MD from the University of Arizona and completed his residency and fellowship in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology at the University of New Mexico. He has extensive experience in clinical molecular diagnostics, having directed laboratories performing next-generation sequencing for over 20,000 cancer patients.Â
Dr. Routh's academic and clinical expertise spans the fields of laboratory medicine, molecular oncology, bioinformatics, and precision medicine. He has directed laboratories in the commercial, academic and government sectors. Â He is dedicated to advancing personalized medicine through the development of new, affordable clinical tests, including liquid biopsy technologies for early cancer detection. His work has been presented at national conferences, and he has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals.
With a passion for medical education, Dr. Routh actively teaches pathology to medical students and leads research initiatives aimed at improving diagnostic tools. His current research focuses on the clinical application of epigenetic markers in cancer and the role of somatic alterations in non-cancer disease.

Jessica Lasky-Su, PhD
Dr. Lasky-Su is a pioneering leader in metabolomics research, particularly its integration with other omics to study chronic diseases across the life course, with a focus on respiratory outcomes like asthma. Her extensive work in "integrative metabolomics" spans various health outcomes, including cancers, respiratory and metabolic diseases, and the effects of environmental exposures. With over 225 peer-reviewed publications and numerous invited talks, she has significantly advanced this emerging field. Currently, she is expanding her research to study multiomics in aging through the MGB-Biobank. As the former president of the Metabolomics Society and chair of the NIH's COMETS consortium, Dr. Lasky-Su's leadership is unmatched. She has also led initiatives to formalize metabolomics research standards and has extensive NIH and private funding for her work. Her mentees have gone on to achieve notable success in their own research careers.

Ben Askins, PA-C, MDiv
Ben Askins has an eclectic background with degrees in Outdoor Education, Intercultural Studies, Physician Assistant Studies, and Divinity. He has nearly two decades of experience practicing and teaching wilderness, tactical, and expeditionary medicine in the military. In civilian life, he is a Psychiatric Physician Assistant with an evidence-focused and integrative approach to mental health that includes extensive experience providing psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, medicine management, and spiritual direction. He is certified with the Multidisciplinary Association on Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Ben is a member of the Wilderness Medical Society, a National Outdoor Leadership school alum, a veteran of the Global War on Terrorism, and has completed postgraduate training in Neuropsychiatry and Genomics. He is the owner of Advanced Practice Providers, a mental health optimization office in Louisville, KY and the author of Anti-Hero’s Journey: The Zero With a Thousand Faces, a warped war memoir on the way to enlightenment, as well as the host of The Anti-Hero’s Journey podcast. He has a wife, four children, a dog, a farm, and ninety-nine problems, but methylation ain’t one.

Carl Seger, MD
Dr. Carl Seger has been in the medical field for over 15 years, but has been fascinated by physical and mental health his entire life. Dr. Seger attended the University of Washington School of Medicine before completing his residency and fellowship at the University of Utah in emergency medicine and education, respectively. Dr. Seger is endlessly intrigued by longevity and the use of technology to improve a patient’s health span. He resides in the mountains of Colorado where he enjoys all forms of outdoor activity: skiing, snowboarding, hiking, trail running, mountain biking, and more – with his wife and three children.

Jeff Graham, MD
Dr. Jeffrey Graham attended medical school at the University of Arkansas before completing his Family Medicine residency at Mountain Area Health Center in North Carolina. He holds a Masters of Public Health from the University of North Carolina and he is board-certified in Lifestyle Medicine. Dr. Graham is an avid CrossFitter with professional experience in Sports Medicine and Functional Medicine. With a bright, energetic, and warm character, Dr. Graham brings his depth of knowledge and dedication to helping his patients achieve better health and wellbeing.

Bridget Briggs, MD
Dr. Bridget Briggs received her medical degree from UC San Diego and is a board-certified Family Medicine physician specializing in functional medicine, Geriatric and Women's Health. Further, she pursued a certification of Integrative Holistic Medicine where she learned how to implement lifestyle medicine into her patient care. Leader of The Briggs Institute of Epigenetic Medicine in Southern California, Dr. Briggs strives to change western medicine incorporating an integrative and preventative approach.
